CHR reacts on Mark Anthony Fernandez's arrest

The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) on Tuesday voiced out its concern over the report that Police fired shots at Mark Anthony Fernandez vehicle during the short chase on Monday.

Actor Fernandez has been nabbed for possession of marijuana in Angeles City, Pampanga.

The information came from Region III Police Director PCSupt. Aaron Aquino on Monday night.

According to the report, about a kilo of marijuana was retrieved from Fernandez, who was arrested after a short chase when Fernandez speed out of checkpoint and stuck on traffic after the tire of his Ford Mustang was hit by bullets allegedly fired by cops.

CHR spokesperson Agnes Balbacal said the cops endangered Fernandez's life when they fired shots toward his vehicle.

The police did not comment on CHR's reaction.

Fernandez, however, claimed he had no idea where the illegal drugs came from. He admitted to GMA News' Victoria Tulad that he was just about to buy marijuana from a dealer, and he thus did not have any illegal drugs on him, when police officers suddenly showed up apprehended him.
Balbacal however did not give any suggestion when asked what the police should have done to caught the speeding Fernandez.
